Hey folks, Just figured I'd drop in and let you know that I have decided to record an EP of the songs I've been working on. It's going to be called Scale From One To Yes. Right now, my plan is to release it in two months, on July 26. We'll see how that goes.
The plan is just to record the songs myself on my 4-track Tascam cassette recorder. I'm probably just going to do the lo-fi thing. It works for me right now. And it's probably just going to be me and my guitar. I may consider bringing in my friend Kurt Wojak to spice up a song or two with some guitar leads, but I'll have to think about that. Right now, some songs I plan to have on it are "Down," "Stroll," "Cold Coffee," "Who Cares," and some other stuff (maybe check my Youtube page if you haven't heard these songs). I'm shooting for 8 songs total, but I may just go with 6 or 7, depending on what I have and what I feel like. I'm also strongly considering leaving off anything written before this year (like "White Blood Cells") because they are either A. Not 100% my intellectual property or B. Just not what I want on this album.
Also, I have decided that I am not going to publish music as just me. I have come up with a band name....for myself. This way if I add on musicians somewhere along the line, they get more credit than just being hired hands backing me up. So I have started a band. By myself. We are called The Flat. And we have two members. There's me, filling the role of singing and putting my hands on the guitar, and there is Guillermo, filling the role of the guitar. If I actually make some money at this, chances are very good I'll kick Guillermo out of the band and replace him with someone better. But don't tell him that.
Also if you've heard of another band called The Flat, let me know. I've searched and haven't come up with anything, but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't another one out there. I'd hate to release an album with another band's name on it.
So look for information on how you can get your hands on The Flat's debut EP Scale From One To Yes on July 26.
Also, if you are artistically/photographically inclined, let me know if you're interested in helping me put together some sort of visual component for it, like say a cover. Or if you have cover ideas. Let me know what you think would be cool. This is a completely self-produced thing, so I won't really be able to pay you, FYI.
Kinda sorta PRESS RELEASE'D, Nick
What a beautiful buzz
